Evaluating the suitability of Q-Lite to your use cases
While Q-Lite subscription provides new opportunities to plan for presence detection in areas where high accuracy is not desired, reducing deployment and recurring cost of the system, it’s important to understand its limitations. Since location of tag is calculated based on RSSI value, only relative distance between tag and surrounding locators can be estimated by the system but not the angle from which the locator hears the tag. In addition, signal strength varies greatly from one environment to another due to a number of factors (e.g. ceiling height and wall materials), exact distance between tag and locator can not be reliably determined.
Recommended use cases:
The Q-Lite subscription works best for the use cases which fulfill following criteria:
- It is sufficient to know the area where the tracked object is around or if it is present at the tracking site.
-
Doesn’t require exact location of the tracked object
-
Doesn’t require room level or a specific x meter radius accuracy
-
Doesn’t have multiple “presence detection” areas which are close to each other or defined by clear boundaries (zone accuracy level).
