Selecting Locators for Deployments
When planning a deployment, you'll need to choose whether to use Q17 Locators, Q35 Locators or a mix of both. In making the decision, it's important to consider both the requirements for the deployment (e.g. how important is high-accuracy positioning for the project) and the deployment environment (e.g. where will the Locators be mounted). This section is intended to provide some general guidelines to help you select the right Locators for your deployment. However, as each deployment is unique, we also encourage you to discuss the selection directly with your Quuppa representative as they can provide you with more tailored advice.
Q17 Locator
The Q17 Locator is often chosen for the following use cases: Retail, Smart Buildings and Hospitals. These factors make this model well suited for such environments are:
- Design - A smaller and lighter design with an IP rating of IP44 (dust and water resistant) makes the Q17 Locator a better choice for indoor environments where a more discrete form factor is appreciated.
- Range - The Q17 Locator can position tags accurately from a height of up to 5 meters, making it ideal for environments that have lower ceiling heights. The Q35 is recommended for anything above 5m.
- Accuracy - The angular resolution of the Q17 performs well in deployments with a higher Locator density, which is required in environments with lower ceiling heights and confined or semi-confined areas (e.g. areas with meeting rooms, patient rooms or shelving dividing up the space).
Q35 Locator
The Q35 Locator is often chosen for the following use cases: Sports, Logistics and Manufacturing.
These factors make this model well suited for such environments are:
- Design - It offers a more industrial form factor and an IP rating of IP66 (dustproof and waterproof), making it more durable and robust in both industrial and outdoor environments.
- Range - The Q35 Locator can hear tags from up to hundreds of meters away allowing for higher installation than the Q17 Locator. The maximum recommended installation height will depend on the accuracy requirements of your project.
- Accuracy - The angular resolution of the Q35 Locator is better, allowing for more accurate positioning than the Q17 Locator, also at lower installation heights. For mission critical deployments or use cases requiring very high accuracy, the Q35 will provide superior performance.
