At the Innovative Retail Laboratory (IRL, DFKI GmbH), we use the Quuppa technology for several years to track customers location inside a physical retail store by tracking the shopping cart or the personal device. While we investigate the opportunities of the technology from the research perspective in our laboratory using a dedicated installation, we also deploy and evaluate our approaches in a real market equipped with a Quuppa tracking system. We did several projects to developed prototypes for optimisations (e.g., queue management system at the cashier zones, store layout (e.g., placement of advertisements and promotions) and also predictions (e.g., expected checkout time, items shopping cart).
