Quuppa has been listed as one of Finland’s Best Workplaces by the prestigious Great Place to Work®.
The company took part in the Great Place to Work (GPTW) competition for the first time this year, and was already awarded the certification and now the listing.
On the 28th of April 2021, Quuppa was listed as one of Finland’s Best Workplaces, in the category of small-sized companies with 20-49 employees. According to the GPTW Trust Index survey, employees consider the company to be a great place to work, making the company eligible for recognition. Obtaining the certification, especially in the midst of a corona pandemic, is a sign of a healthy work environment and culture.
“We are delighted that Quuppa was listed in the very first year of our participation in this competition. Having a good time at work is equally important for me as achieving good results, and I believe the two go hand in hand. People are most motivated and productive when they are happy and enjoy their work!” says Kimmo, Quuppa co-founder and CEO.
Confidence is Paramount in Employee Experience
The results emphasise a strong confidence in management. Quuppa employees feel that they are trusted and their skills are valued. In addition to management, the results emphasise the company’s community spirit, teamwork and open communication. Colleagues trust and support each other, and everyone pitches in to maintain the spirit. Taking care of the mental well-being of employees is always important, and becomes even more so during challenging times.
The results also reflect that Quuppa employees feel the company offers them opportunities to flourish and grow, according to their individual skills and preferences. Ville Norra, who has been involved in the company from almost the beginning, is a good example of this. In addition to the Creative Director title, he is responsible for designing the products and developing the user experience.
“I’ve got to try and learn over the years, many different things and to define the role, depending on what feels good. I have never once thought that I come to work because I get paid for it, but I always think that I come here because the work is nice.” Norra says.
Quuppa’s team spirit has also carried over to the remote work required by the pandemic. The teams have developed their processes collaboratively, and the culture includes heavily cultivated techie humour.
International and People-Oriented
Quuppa has targeted the international market from the very beginning and the majority of its customers are from outside of Finland. Growth has been steady in all markets. In addition to Keilaniemi in Espoo, the company has offices in Washington, Sydney, Shanghai and Shenzhen, and its ecosystem includes more than 200 partners globally.
The development-oriented company invests especially in recruitment and successful candidate experiences. Quuppa grew its team last year by about 10 new employees and there are plans to recruit the same amount again this year. The staff is diverse in terms of both age and gender distribution, as well as nationalities, which total almost 10.
Growing Together With The Company
Young professionals, in particular, are interested in an innovative technology company operating in a new field, where you can genuinely influence your goals and grow within the company. The fact that the official language of the company is English adds to the interest.
“Multiculturalism brings many benefits and broadens the perspectives. Quuppa’s organisational structure is also wonderfully smooth, anyone can ask for help,” says Diana Bobkova from Russia, who recently started in Quuppa’s product management team as a Junior Product Manager.
“I believe many are attracted to our open culture where humour flourishes. I think the GPTW certification sums up the essentials, this is a great place to be at work.” Ville Norra sums up.
