In manufacturing, operations managers have to cope with a variety of logistical challenges. The leading issue is the lack of data visibility, which complicates everything from inventory management to shipment tracking. In the absence of end-to-end supply chain visibility, items are often misplaced throughout the different stages of production, and time is wasted trying to track down goods and equipment manually.
Individual stakeholders in a supply chain often utilise their own internal management systems and communication channels, as opposed to a centralised reporting and tracking system, resulting in siloed data that obscures the bigger picture regarding the status and location of an asset.
The resulting bottleneck demonstrates the need for a centralised system for asset tracking, which can only be achieved through a shift toward digitisation in logistics. That’s why we at Quuppa have worked to develop Real-Time Locating Systems (RTLS), which allow for assets to be located, tracked, and analysed in indoor facilities.
With Quuppa’s precise positioning system, an asset’s exact location can be made clear in real time, simplifying and streamlining asset retrieval. But unlike other RTLS platforms, Quuppa’s system can locate all Bluetooth-enabled devices (e.g. mobile phones and scanners) down to 10 centimetres and transmit signals through metal obstructions, making it uniquely suited for warehouses and other challenging environments.
The Quuppa system also provides an accurate up-to-date inventory across multiple sites, whether it’s for tools, parcels, or equipment, so you know exactly what you have and where you have it. All this data is also integrated into one single centralised platform, so you can easily set up, manage, and monitor multiple locations, enhancing scalability.
And now, in order to bring manufacturing into the future, Quuppa has partnered with Swedish-based Virtual Manufacturing, a provider of logistics development services. Virtual Manufacturing is incorporating Quuppa’s RTLS offerings and location services into its product portfolio to help customers in the Nordic region reach peak operational efficiency.
Virtual Manufacturing is helping to digitise Nordic warehouse operations, integrating our positioning data into its manufacturing software to aid operators’ decision-making. The company’s cloud-based Gazpacho software analyses tracking data and will give insights on production and performance, like asset retrieval and picking times.
Many customers around the world have already reaped the benefits of using our tech to revitalise outdated systems and increase productivity: from Airbus to DHL, global corporations have sought to streamline their logistics with our RTLS systems and related services. Moreover, after deploying our RTLS technology to track steel shipments in their factories, Kloeckner Metals decreased shipment loading times from an average of 45 minutes to 7 minutes, resulting in an additional $15,000 a day in daily revenue.
At the end of the day, our technology simply enables manufacturers to do what they do best: increase efficiency and streamline operations. We just get rid of the inefficiencies for them.
